Advice or content to help learn the game

Would like understand the dynamics of the game better but not sure where to start. Won my first 20 matches capping almost every flag every match but I seem to suddenly be fighting players who know how to defend a lot better and I don't know how to get through that defence other than very specific timing relying on random factors.
